Restaurant Reaz Corner sits unassumingly on Jalan Dhoby in the heart of Bandar Johor Bahru, offering a casual dining experience rooted in traditional Malaysian and mamak-style fare. It’s a compact spot that fills up quickly, especially at peak meal times, reflecting its popularity among locals seeking straightforward, hearty dishes without the fuss of fine dining.

The atmosphere here is practical and no-frills, with options for both indoor and outdoor seating. Many patrons prefer the outdoor area facing the street, where the buzz of everyday Johor Bahru life adds background character to the meal. The small space is kept clean and well-ventilated, which goes a long way in making the slightly crowded environment feel welcoming rather than cramped.

The menu is a solid representation of classic mamak flavors, with particular highlights like their flaky and crispy roti canai varieties. Dishes such as the roti sarang burung and cheese prata stand out for their textural appeal—the mozzarella cheese pulls apart reminiscent of a pizza, giving a fun twist to a traditional snack. Curries accompanying the breads, including chicken, mutton, and fish options, each carry distinct, well-spiced profiles that complement the bread’s texture without overwhelming it.

For those looking for a more substantial meal, the nasi ayam penyet serves up a satisfying portion of smashed fried chicken paired with fragrant rice and fresh herbs, punching well above what you might expect for the reasonable price. Additionally, noodle lovers can find comfort in their maggi sup dishes, where springy instant noodles meet a hot broth enriched with chicken and vegetables, delivering homely warmth especially on cooler evenings.

This spot attracts a diverse crowd—from local workers grabbing a quick and affordable meal, to families settling in for a fuller dining experience, and mamak aficionados who return regularly to sample almost everything on the menu. Service is generally friendly and accommodating, with staff open to explaining menu choices or recommending dishes, which contributes to the easy-going vibe.

Restaurant Reaz Corner works best as a casual lunch or dinner stop when you want authentic mamak-style comfort food in a setting where the focus is on the food and the local community rather than polished aesthetics. If you enjoy lively street scenes paired with flavorful, budget-friendly meals, this spot captures a slice of everyday Johor Bahru dining culture.

The food was nice. Roti arab Daging fish curry and meat curry. Affordable price . Even though the place is small and a bit crowded. They kept clean the place.

The cheese prata here is amazing. They use mozzarella cheese and it pulls apart like a pizza (no pic…ate too fast). Service is excellent. I love that all the curries - chicken, mutton and fish are distinct and flavourful. Place is decently clean and well ventilated as well.

1st visit here located in middle of JB. Old nasi kandar shop. Many items here. The food tastes not as good as others that I have been to. Price normal and cheap. Portion also big.

Their roti canai is one of the best I have ever had. Flaky and crispy, and not tasteless like most roti's. The kuah is also flavourful with plenty of spices. Good service in a no frills setting.

The only mamak to go to in Johor Bahru! I’ve tried almost everything on the menu, and the taste is just nice for me. The naan cheese? Memang the bomb! You can pull the cheese as long as you want (while standing!) They’ve got indoor and outdoor seating, but I always choose outdoors—such a nice ambience facing the main road. The staff are friendly and super helpful, always willing to explain the menu if you’re not familiar with it. Price-wise, it’s reasonable for a restaurant right in the heart of JB city. The only issue is parking—it can be a hustle during weekends. You might have to park a bit further, but hey, it’s a good excuse for a stroll along the street with murals and all. Keep it up, Reaz Corner!

Thosai Masala: /5 our favourite dish, texture & flavour all on point Roti Canai (Kosong): 3/5 a little disappointed as we’ve certainly tasted better renditions of this classic dish Teh: 5/5 perfectly brewed cuppa, not diluted! Lassi: 4/5 not too sour but a little too much on the sweet side in my opinion
